JOB BRIEF

The Tunisia Security Sector Reform Project Assistant (PA) will be responsible for providing administrative and programmatic support for the successful implementation of USIPs Security Sector Reform (SSR) project. The PA will work closely with team members in the Tunisia Hub office and in HQ offices and will report to the SSR Project Officer (PO) based in Tunis.

This is a full-time position based in Tunisia. It is a fixed-term Personal Services Contractor position. Hiring for this position is contingent upon funding availability.

Responsibilities

  • Provide effective logistical and administrative support for the successful implementation of the SSR project activities. This includes, but is not limited to coordination with vendors, contract submission, document preparation for payment, preparation for events logistics and budgets; Organize logistical and administrative aspects of workshops and meetings
  • Plan and support experts and USIP staff travel, as well as schedule appointments, attend meetings, and take notes as needed;
  • Support collecting and analyzing monitoring and evaluation data as needed
  • Assist in preparation of weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting for internal and external audiences as needed
  • Conduct research as needed
  • Provide translation and interpretation support in English and French as needed;
  • Liaise with vendors, including hotels, caterers, interpreters, etc.;
  • Coordinate project expenditure and disbursements following approval from relevant team members;
  • Ensure that program databases and documents are well managed and updated in a timely manner to enhance the knowledge management of USIPs programs;
  • Work closely with HQ and in-country operations and finance teams;
  • Contribute to the development of new project ideas;
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in international relations or related field.
  • At least two (2) years of related experience or a masters degree.
  • Knowledge of Tunisia political and cultural dynamics required, and security sector experience preferred.
  • Experience supporting administrative and operational teams.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize work, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated research and analytic skills in Arabic, English, and French.
  • Must have the ability to design and manage budgets.
  • Must have strong collaboration skills; must have the ability to coordinate the input and priorities of multiple team members.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills.

Additional Information

  • Working hours: Full time (40 hours/week)
  • Location: Based in Tunis, Tunisia
  • Salary: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience and in line with the allocated funds for the position
  • Starting date: May 2022 contingent on funding availability
