Kinesiology Department Administrator
The Kinesiology Department in the School of Education & Human Development is seeking a Department Administrator to manage daily operations including finance and budget, academic administration, procurement, accounts payable and accounts receivable, pre- and post-award grant activities, space management, human resources, and general office operations. The Department Administrator supervises an additional employee in carrying out the operations of the Kinesiology Department and its affiliated programs. This position reports directly to the Department Chair, with secondary reporting to the School of Education & Human Development’s directors of finance and budget.
The Department of Kinesiology has 15 full-time faculty, 80 graduate students, and 300 undergraduate students and is a vibrant STEM-oriented department with several health science research laboratories. The Department is also home to the service-oriented Lifetime Physical Activity program and maintains several clinical education and research collaborations both on- and off-grounds.
Education: Bachelor’s degree
Experience: Four years of increasingly responsible management and administrative responsibility is required. Two years of supervisory experience is required. Relevant exempt level experience may substitute for a degree.
- Knowledge of budget and accounting principles
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and problem solve
- Proven ability to exercise good judgement in making well-reasoned decisions, knowing the limitations of authority
- Strong operational management skills that include managing and coordinating multiple priorities and projects across academic and business areas
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to successfully relate to people at all levels of the organization
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Familiarity with Workday HCM and Financials

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
